In an effort to encourage your visitors to upgrade, we have added an optional IE6 warning message. This can be turned on/off in the template parameters. This message offers some reasons to upgrade along with links to Firefox, Safari, Opera and Chrome. This message is only shown to those visitors using IE6 and a cookie is set upon close so visitors using IE6 don't have to see it again.
Internet Explorer 6 was released back in 2001, and Internet Explorer 7, the replacement, was released nearly two years ago in 2006. Modern web browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Safari provide significantly better online experiences. IE 6 is a last-generation browser. This means that IE 6 can't provide the same web experience that modern browsers can. Supporting IE 6 means slower progress, less progress, and, in some places, no progress.
